Food Court

For my second project, we had to create our own food court concept based on a type of food of our choice. I chose smoothies.

At the end of the project, we were required to design an in-store ordering system for a restaurant selling our chosen product.

Brainstorming ideas

Before starting this project, we had to choose a type of food. I chose smoothies.

At the beginning of the project, we started with a brainstorming session using a mind map. We had to connect our chosen food to a specific country. I chose Hawaii. I made a mind map focused on the country itself to explore its culture, style, and visual elements.

Collages

After creating the mind map, I started working on three collages. Each collage had to be connected to the chosen country and represent a different theme.

I chose the themes nature, warm weather, and vacation, three elements that are strongly associated with Hawaii.

Ingredients sketch

After researching the country of origin, I was able to start sketching and experimenting with the ingredients.

In these sketches, I explored different styles, shapes, and materials to see what would best match the concept. This phase helped me develop a clearer visual direction before moving on to the final design.

Ingredients

After experimenting, I found a style that suited my concept and started developing it further. In the image, you can see the final result. I wanted the design to be colorful but also clean and structured. I also chose to work with organic shapes to give it a more natural and playful feel.

Styleboard App

In the final stage, I began developing my style board. My goal was to design a modern app with a fresh and natural feel. I drew inspiration from the colors of a Hawaiian sunset and built my color palette around those warm, soft tones.

To complete the modern look, I carefully selected clean and readable typefaces that support both the aesthetic and usability of the design.

Wordmark

Creating an app also meant designing a logo. I incorporated Hawaii by using its national flower, the hibiscus, to give a tropical feel.

The name Aloha Blendz combines “Aloha,” the Hawaiian greeting, with “Blendz,” referencing smoothies, reflecting the brand’s fresh and tropical identity.

Wordmark Animated

To top it off, I animated my logo to bring it to life. I aimed for a simple design with playful movement, adding a dynamic and engaging touch that reflects the fun, tropical vibe of the brand.

Final Food Court App

This is the final version of my Food Court app.
I’m really happy with how it turned out, it matches the vision I had from the start.
The video gives a glimpse of how the app works in detail, showing the design and interactions coming to life
